Illegal Buildings in Cincin Reservoir Torn Down

Hundreds of joint personel tore down illegal buildings in the Cincin Reservoir area, RT 01/07, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta. Those personnel consisted of Satpol PP, national army, police, Environment Agency, Water Resources Agency, Asset Management Sub-division, and PPSU.

North Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Muhammadong said this operation refers to Jakarta Bylaw Number 8/2007 on Public Order and Governor's Call Number 118/2016 on Integration Regulation.

"We deployed 220 personnel to the location," he expressed, Thursday (2/27)

Prior to operation, socialization with residents owning illegal buildings had been conducted periodically regarding the first to third warning letters.

"We have provided them with a solution regarding the relocation to the apartment," he explained.

He urged them not to return to the previous location. The location would be transformed into a Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Waste Management Place (TPS 3R) by the Jakarta Environmental Agency, as one of the solutions for sustainable waste management in Jakarta.

"We'll keep monitoring this location to prevent illegal buildings. Hope they (owners) will accept the solution from the village head to be relocated," he added.

Papanggo Urban Village Head, Harry Firmansyah added they occupied land owned by the Jakarta Government.

"There are a total of 15 families and we're just waiting for the data of the residents who are willing to be relocated," he explained.

After the demolishment on Wednesday (2/26), it would be followed by cleaning and the removal of building materials and waste.

"We are still continuing the cleaning. We will ensure that the location can be clean and tidy again soon," he stressed.
